The Business

Basically it will be something like this.

You:
1. You put up $100 USD to show you are serious.
2. You will get approximately 40% of any profits the business makes.
3. You will follow the training, which is detailed in training videos.
4. You will be doing the majority of the work required.
5. The training videos show you what you will be doing; basically coming up with sayings and creating the decals.
6. There is also a training video for advertising on Facebook which you will learn and do later.
7. 50% of your deposit will be returned after 60 days if you do not perform and the opportunity will be open to another family member.

Me:
1. I have the mug course and Facebook advertising course already.
2. Ads, not cheap, will be required to get customers – I’ll pay for ads.
3. I will pay for any sites or services the business will require, eg. Gearbubble, Amazon, Shopify, Graphics program, etc.
4. I will pay any other costs to operate the business.
5. I will get 60% of any profits the business makes.
6. I will be available for any questions or problems.
7. I will help as much as I can, but I don’t have much spare time.
8. I will give you sayings for the mugs initially, but you will also have to come up with some.
9. If decaled mugs turn a profit then mugs decorated with images + text will be added.

What I think about this Opportunity

Aside from what I’ve written above I think this is one of the simplest kind of businesses. It is sort of a hybrid type of business. It is operated totally online, however it is a traditional business in the sense someone has to physically decal the mugs, package and ship them to the customer. This is not you!

Personally I was in the mug business for 5 years here in California. The business was not so easy. We had 10 – 15 girls decaling mugs five days a week. Profits were very low due to the high cost of a warehouse, office, employees, book keeper, salesmen, myself and the owner (we were partners when I went to Hong Kong).

Shhh! this opportunity is only for Laureta’s close relatives in the Philippines.

The only way the business could possibly turn a profit was because we had MANY containers (1200 – 1600 cartons of blank mugs) shipped monthly from China to Hongkong to Los Angeles. We had to buy in those HUGE QUANTITIES to make even a little money. That’s not necessary for this business. Costs are much higher for mugs and decorating now, but the selling price of the mugs are very high.

This business essentially eliminates most of those problems and most of the people. Sales are done via advertising online, A different company applies the decals and bakes them on the mugs. The mug samples are shown on one or more online stores.

When a mug is sold (due to someone responding to an ad) a different company packs and ships the order. Alternately if mugs are placed in the Amazon store ads are not necessarily required and Amazon can handle everything (for a rather high fee).

As far as I am concerned the hardest part of this business is the trial and error of running ads to get customers. It’s not a simple matter. I won’t go into what it takes to have successful ads, but know it takes a lot of experimenting with ads and traffic sources if additional traffic is desired. All that cost money and it could be a lot of it. That’s my problem to conquer.
