Nurses and Necessity due to Wars
Replayed from an early 1960s era comic book
Wars have lead to a vital need for nurses. Someone to help and heal the wounded during war time became vitally necessary as men fighting became wounded.
During the Crimean War more British Army soldiers were dying in the hospital than on the battlefield. They had the finest surgeons and nurses, but that didn’t stop the dying.
As it turned out effective sanitary measures were missing, as well as a corp of doctors and helpers were missing.
A field hospital is a large mobile medical unit that temporarily takes care of casualties on-site before they can be safely transported to more permanent hospital facilities.
They are where the military injured are first treated. The term Field hospital is used overwhelmingly with reference to military situations, but may also be used in times of disaster.
